HOW LONG DOES WEDDING MAKEUP APPLICATION TAKE?
Roughly how long does a wedding day makeup application take? It obviously depends on your skin type, condition and the level of glamour you’re going for but here’s a quick guide on the duration to expect.
FAIRLY ‘NORMAL’ SKIN, MINIMAL BLEMISHES AND REDNESS
If you’re lucky enough to have a ‘Normal’ bog standard skin type then first of all CONGRATULATIONS, you lucky duck! And second of all your makeup application should be easy peasy.
Expect a Cleanse and Full Skin Prep to last 2-3 minutes
Expect a Natural Glowy Wedding Makeup to take around 30 minutes
Expect a Sparkly/ Flicked Eye Liner with Lashes to take around 45 minutes
Expect a Smokey Eye with Lashes and Contouring to take around 60 minutes
IF YOU HAVE AN OILIER SKIN TYPE WITH RED BLEMISHES/ SOME SPOTS/ LARGER PORES
Now we’re getting into heavier and more detailed prep work. Once we have established your skin is on the Oilier side, depending on what season you get married in/ what the weather is like on the day of your celebrations we adjust accordingly.
Expect a Cleanse and Full Skin Prep to last 5 minutes
Expect a Natural Glowy/ Matte Wedding Makeup to take around 50 minutes
Expect a Sparkly/ Flicked Eye Liner with Lashes to take around 60 minutes
Expect a Smokey Eye with Lashes and Contouring to take around 1 hour 20 minutes
Why so much longer, you ask? Well, when we start seeing more blemishes, redness, and in other skin conditions dryness we need to prep more and take time blending base and concealer so it looks completely flawless in real life. That takes time and skill.
IF YOU’VE ACNE PRONE SKIN/ ACNE; REDNESS, AND SCARRING
Now we’re getting SPECIALISED. We will have established a potential skincare plan and worked out what products are correctly targeting the acne. Depending on what season you get married in/ what the weather is like on the day of your celebrations we prep with those and adjust matte/ luminous finishes.

IF YOU HAVE ROSACEA OR ECZEMA PLUS IT’S SENSITIVE
CONGRATULATIONS, you have a face that feels hot and tight, burns, is sensitive to the heat, cold, every skincare product but the exact cause remains a mystery- probably fragrance but who knows…? Extra care is taken to ensure your face stays a comfortable temperature and fragrance free products are ALWAYS used as well as mineral and water based serums, nourishing balms and anti inflammatories. Products are layered to ensure hydration and glow is maintained.
Expect a Cleanse and Full Skin Prep to last 10-15 minutes, also expect it to be done TWICE. The first time we cleanse and hydrate, the second time ( after eye makeup application ) we re hydrate, add moisture with a balm and protect with a broad spectrum SPF.
