INCORPORATING COLOUR: HOW TO ADD A POP OF COLOUR TO BRIDAL MAKEUP

Explore ways to add a subtle or bold touch of colour to bridal makeup while keeping the look elegant and sophisticated.

This look is perfect for those that generally wear little to no makeup, are pretty pale or Winter or Early Spring Wedding.

What kind of pink should I use? If you’ve got lots of blue veins under your eyes use a pale to mid pink with quite a bit of yellow in it, if you’ve got purpley veins use a peachy pink. If you’ve got redness in the face use a dull, antique style rosey pink. If you’re a darker skin tone and have darker, browner discolouration use a reddy, vibrant pink.

How do I apply it? Use a good eye primer underneath, preferably a neutralising one. Sweep the colour over with a large eye shadow brush blending up the brow if your eyes are hooded like mine.

What have I used here? Kiko Milano Eye Shadow Stick 61 with Tropic Skincare Blush Crush in Pinch Me Pink. The Full Look can be shopped via my ShopMy.

This look is perfect for those that are used to wearing makeup and want something a little Avant Garde but not too over powering.

What kind of bold colour should I use? Providing your coverage covers unsightly undertones it really doesn’t matter. I love blue, green and plum as they really bring out my brown eyes but I have to make sure my dark circles are covered otherwise I look tired/ like I’ve been punched. You could incorporate colour details from your wedding outfit into it too.

How do I apply it? Use a good eye primer underneath, preferably a neutralising one. Sweep a nude ( to your skint tone ) colour over the whole lid to keep everything transfer resistant especially if your eyes are hooded like mine. Apply your choice of colour Waterproof eyeliner into the lashes, Try to keep it as thing as possible. Blend any edges with a fine cotton bud.

What have I used here? Nabla Cosmetics Cupid’s Arrow in Midnight Blue with a little blue eyeshadow from Viseart. The Full Look can be shopped via my ShopMy.

This look the perfect romantic and ethereal wedding makeup look. Keep it innocent by adding powder ( also adds a Japanese/ Korean influence if you’re incorporating that sub- culture), staying glowy keeps it modern and very editorial/ fashion runway.

What kind of over flushed colour should I use? I used a neutral powdery pink and actually mixed it with a contour stick to keep it looking too ‘Bubblegum Barbie’. If you’re pale I wouldn’t contour and if you’re getting married in winter you can afford to go richer with the lip stain colour. Berry tones look lush, even if you’re paler. If you’re darker you can go richer Raspberry or Mulberry/ Cranberry/ Claret tones.

How do I apply it? Sweep the colour of choice over the tops of your cheek bones and dot gently over your nose blending down over the apples of your cheeks. Stop there. I also added a scarlet lip stain to really romanticise things up a notch. You can add a berry colours.

What have I used here? Jillian Dempsey Cheek Tint in Rosey on my cheeks and Scarlet on my lips with a little blue eyeshadow from Viseart. The Full Look can be shopped via my ShopMy.

Yep, you can wear dark purple on your wedding day! Keep it muted by positioning the depth by your lashes and blending right out after the initial thin line. Keep the inner corner of the eye lid clear of any dark pigment and you’d be surprised how sophisticated it looks. Keep your lips a matte- ish nude.

What kind of purple colour should I use? Stick with a muted purple. Anything too primary colour oriented may look a bit much. You can absolutely go dark but remember to blend away after the line.

How do I apply it? Keep the intensity by the lash line and blend out straight away. You can afford to leave it as intense as I have if you’ve hooded eyes. If not keep the liner small and the rest of the lid clear, you can also experiment with a sharper purple with more open lids.

What have I used here? I’ve kept the Nabla Cosmetics Cupid’s Arrow Midnight Blue line from before and layered Vieve The Ninetease in 93 over the top. The Full Look can be shopped via my ShopMy.

I couldn’t possibly let this blog post go without mentioning the EASIEST way to slip a pop of colour into your wedding day makeup look could I?! My new favourite red is this one by GXVE Beauty, you can ABSOLUTELY go with pink, I’ve had bridesmaids request cobalt blue and it looks incredible. Keep it really pared back with minimal eye makeup and fresh, natural skin with minimal blush.

What kind of bold lip colour should I use? I love all kinds of bold mid to dark, vivid pinks. If it’s darker than my lips are I use it. The lighter the colour the more 60’s vibe you’ll end up with, anything darker is more modern and vampy. If you’re using red, I find warm and neutral reds compliment my teeth colour more.

How do I apply it? If you’re using a wand from a lipgloss style casing, take the excess off, start in the centre of your bottom lip and stroke your way to your lip line. Use the pointy end to trace your lip line working your way to the thin edge of your lip. You can apply more if needed. Using the tip of the wand, start at the thin edge of your top lip, follow your lip line up, sloping down over your cupid’s bow, repeat on the other side and fill in the centre.

What have I used here? GXVE Beauty I’m Still Here Clean Matte Liquid Lipstick in Original Recipe. The Full Look can be shopped via my ShopMy.
